Where I learned to toss line…

I have been fly fishing for over a decade now and have fallen in love with all aspects of the sport including winter fishing. Montana winter fishing is legendary. Montana provides fly fishing experiences like no other place. There is just something about the solitude of being alone on a mountain river in a snow storm in complete silence other than the cast of your line and the sound of the river.

It’s something I live for, look forward to and in many ways need. Then add a stellar view of Quake Lake and big sky country’s snow capped mountains, it’s the perfect stretch of water. In my opinion winter and the Madi is the perfect scene for nymphing. The fish are hungry and haven’t seen the usual summer pressure and are ready to fight for that fly. Every year i venture out with a bunch of my fishing buddies to West Yellowstone to slay some trout on the Madison.

If you’re in Montana call my friend John Kirk and take a float with Montana Troutfitters.

He’s a Wounded Warrior guide; great organization featured in the new movie “Not Yet Begun To Fight.”
